Our story

We built the platform we wanted when we were learning languages ourselves.

JoinBeUs began as a response to a simple frustration: most language tools felt like classroom assignments — exercises, translations, scores. Real language lives in conversation. We set out to build something closer to the way fluency actually develops.

01 Our philosophy

What we believe about how language is learned.

Language is acquired, not studied.

First languages are not learned from textbooks. They are acquired through consistent exposure, in context, with repetition. JoinBeUs is built to replicate that pathway at scale.

Immersion is the method, not an add-on.

Second-language acquisition research is clear: contextual, repeated exposure at the right level outperforms vocabulary drilling. The platform is built entirely around this finding.

Technology should serve the learner.

We use AI to understand how each learner interacts with content and to construct a personalised content queue. The AI is invisible by design; the language is the product.

Access over exclusivity.

JoinBeUs is designed to serve institutions in West Africa, Latin America, and Europe — not only individual subscribers on premium plans. Language education should be accessible across markets.

02 What we stand for

Principles that guide the platform.

Immersion over instruction

We never explain language. We expose learners to it repeatedly, in context. The brain does the rest.

Evidence-based learning design

Every product decision is grounded in language-acquisition research, not in what drives engagement metrics.

Access over elitism

Pricing is designed to support schools in Accra and Lagos as much as individual subscribers in London.

Real over gamified

No points for opening the app. No punishment for a missed day. Real conversations and real feedback.

Privacy and data protection

Learner data is not sold, rented, or repurposed. Institutions retain control of cohort data. GDPR-aligned throughout.

Depth over volume

One conversation heard twenty times outperforms twenty different grammar exercises. The platform goes deep, not wide.
